Messed up refs

[edit]

My edit has ruined refs why https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Diff/1170093903 Baratiiman (talk) 13:02, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, because some of your citation labels are missing the "/" character. They should be like <ref name=":5" />. Mhhossein talk 04:43, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Movement of content

[edit]

I suggest in order to reduce the length of the article, we should move most content regarding sanctions, conflicts, and relations since 1979 in general to be moved to Iran–United States relations after 1979. Said article is pretty small compared to its importance in Middle Eastern affairs, so I suggest to move the content from here to there.Joaquinazo (talk) 16:35, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that the article is too long. However, in that case we should move the sad remains of this article to Iran–United States relations before 1979, (or Historic Iran–United States relations) and then move the article Iran–United States relations after 1979 to Iran–United States relations. A very laborious job. So instead, I propose that we keep this article as it is, and make it shorter, for instance by moving content to new articles (for instance:Iran–United States relations during Biden administration) and just writing a summary of that content here.Lova Falk (talk) 08:48, 25 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

What are they fighting for?

New sections proposal

[edit]

Sections in this article are called: Relations in the 2000s, Relations in the 2010s, Relations in the 2020s. I propose making sections based on the US presidency. So, George Bush administration, Obama, Trump etc. Makes much more sense than these arbitrary years. Lova Falk (talk) 11:24, 24 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody has protested - I'll do this. Lova Falk (talk) 04:55, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If I may say so myself, I find this a real improvement. Better navigation, and it is also easy to see which periods are well-covered and which periods have very little information. Lova Falk (talk) 08:45, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Article is too long: Proposal

[edit]

The article is too long. I propose the following:

  1. We create new articles, called:
Iran–United States relations during the G.W. Bush administration
Iran–United States relations during the Obama administration
Iran–United States relations during the first Trump administration
Iran–United States relations during the Biden administration
  2. We simply copy the text from the relevant sections of this article into the new articles.
  3. For each new article, we write a new lead.
  4. In the relevant sections of this article (Iran-US relations), we write, for instance: {{Main|Iran–United States relations during the G.W. Bush administration}} and then copy the lead.
  5. Bit by bit, text from Iran–United States relations after 1979 will be merged into the relevant articles until that article is emptied and can be deleted.

In this way, this article will be much shorter, without any valuable information getting lost.

@Lova Falk I think that's a good idea. I can help with just copying and pasting articles, but don't know how knowledgeable enough I am on the topic to write leads for each one but I can still try to write leads and others can revise. HertzDonuts (talk) 13:57, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
HertzDonuts Great! Lova Falk (talk) 14:01, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Lova Falk We should also make an article for the second Trump administration even though it would be short right now. HertzDonuts (talk) 14:04, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I know! But for the time being, we have 2025 US–Iran negotiations. I think that that article can develop bit by bit, then Donald Trump's letter to Ali Khamenei can be merged into that article, and eventually, we can move the article to Iran–United States relations during the second Trump administration. Another possibility is that 2025 US–Iran negotiations will be a section of Iran–United States relations during the second Trump administration. Lova Falk (talk) 14:21, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
